Lauren Serrano

Since 2012, I have been working with and training animals!

I got my start working at Zoo Miami as a Conservation Teen Scientist where I learned how to handle and care for several Class III and Class II wildlife

From there, I moved on to a handful of other facilities where I gained experience working with small primates, big cats, a variety of reptiles, and even wolves and wolf-dogs!

When I began working with dogs, I was immediately hooked!

The incredibly strong bond humans form with their canine companions never ceases to amaze me.

My dogs and I have achieved 30+ titles together in sports including: Rally, Disc, Dock Diving, FastCAT, Trick Dog, Obedience, and more! We have also earned several awards and achievements in these sports including multiple AKC Rally High in Trials.

I have attended the CATCH Academy Workshop for Professional Dog Trainers and completed the bulk of my apprenticeship at a dog training facility in Miami, FL.

In an effort to continue my education, I have participated in online seminars from renowned training programs such as Leerburg University and Fenzi Dog Sports Academy.

I am an AKC approved CGC, Trick Dog, FDC, and ATT evaluator. I am also currently seeking certification with the International Association of Canine Professionals (IACP) as a Certified Dog Trainer (IACP-CDT).

Training Philosophy

At Galactic K9, we know that your dog is an individual, and we will always treat them as such. What works with one dog may not work for another, and what one dog finds to be rewarding may be aversive to another.

Our training is first and foremost reward-based. We want our dogs to want to work with us! If we use tools in our training, it is simply to help communicate ideas more efficiently to our dogs!

Nothing is more important than your bond with your dog. When the relationship between you and your dog is strong and healthy, training falls right into place.
